Among the awarded projects are Post-Nuclear Housing by Mikel García (Interior Design) and Matterness by Saioa Villa (Graphic Design), both alumni of IED Kunsthal Bilbao. They are joined by Urban Orthesis by Paula Garrote (Product Design), an alumna of IED Madrid. Developed as Final Degree Projects during the 2024/25 academic year, all three proposals were selected from more than 7,000 international entries, ranking among the 90 winning projects of this edition.

In addition, Paula Garrote received a special distinction that placed her project among the seven “Best of the Year”, recognised as the most outstanding projects among all the winners of the iF Design Student Award 2026. Her proposal also received two special awards granted by partner companies of the competition: the GROHE Design Prize by iF and the HOTO Design Prize by iF.

The award ceremony took place on 11 June in Frankfurt, as part of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026, bringing together students and emerging designers from around the world.

Organised by iF Design, the iF Design Student Award receives thousands of submissions each year and recognises projects that use design as a tool to address social, cultural and environmental challenges, while supporting the next generation of internationally recognised design talent.
