On June 26, IED Madrid held its Avant-Défilé, showcasing the emerging talent nurtured within the school. During the event, the 12 most outstanding collections were selected to participate in the September Fashion Show as part of OModa Madrid es Moda.

On Friday, June 26, IED Madrid hosted the second edition of the Avant-Défilé, a runway show that forms part of the Fashion School’s Graduation Show and serves as the culmination of the final projects developed by students of the Bachelor´s  Degree in Fashion Design

As in the previous edition, the event took place at the iconic Palacio de Altamira, one of the school’s campuses, located in the heart of Madrid. Following the previously held Showroom, the palace countyard became the stage for an event filled with talent and creativity.

This year, the Avant-Défilé was framed within the concept “Times New. Hybridisation”, a proposal that understands fashion as a space where disciplines, techniques, and forms of knowledge converge. The theme was relected in the collections, which explored the hybridization of craftsmanship and technology, combining diverse materials, processes, and creative languages to build new narratives.

Following the runway presentation, one of the most anticipated moments of the evening took place: the selection of the 12 projects that will be presented in September as part of a fashion show included in the Madrid es Moda program. The selected designers were Delia Arteaga Martín, Álvaro Blanco Gómez, Alejandra Coco-Bassey Oubiña, Javier Domínguez Pérez, Penélope García, Claudia Lastres Feres, Bárbara Maroto, Guillermo Moñux Ramírez, Diego Serrato Varón, Joane de la Quintana Urrutxurtu, Peio Santisteban Luzuriaga, and Sabela Yilmaz Peinó.

The professional jury responsible for the selection was made up of leading figures from the fashion industry, including Pepa Bueno, Director of Madrid es Moda and Executive Director of ACME (the Association of Fashion Creators of Spain); Sergio Álvarez, Director of the Spanish Fashion Academy Foundation; Leticia García, Fashion Editor-in-Chief at SModa (El País); designers Xavi García and Franx de Cristal, known collectively as ACROMATYX; David Alarcón, Content Editor at METAL Magazine and Deputy Director of ACERO Magazine; and Federico Antelo, designer and Director of the Fashion School at IED Madrid.

Once again, this outstanding fashion show reaffirmed IED Madrid’s commitment to promoting the visibility and professional development of emerging design talent. Through initiatives such as the Avant-Défilé, the school provides its students with a valuable platform from which to launch their professional careers.
