Honourable Mention at the DBEW Award 2026 for two IED Torino alumni

The first edition of the DBEW Award saw two IED Torino alumni among its leading protagonists

Giulia Martini and Christian Conovalu, alumni of the triennial course in Interior Design, received an Honourable Mention at the DBEW Award 2026 for their thesis project Immanence of the Heights during the award ceremony held on 21 April 2026 at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.

The project envisions the adaptive reuse of the Ricovero Carlo Emanuele III in Pontechianale, transforming it into an Alpine cultural observatory. A shared space dedicated to documenting and interpreting landscape transformations, it is based on a sober, material-focused architecture that fosters dialogue between heritage, local communities, and the natural environment, imagining new ways of inhabiting and interpreting the mountain landscape.

Established through the collaboration between ADI Design Museum and Kookmin University, the DBEW Award – Design Beyond Education and Work serves as an international platform for exchange and development for future design professionals.

The award values not only the final outcomes of projects, but also the educational, collaborative, and interdisciplinary processes behind them, recognising the importance of a design journey capable of combining vision, research, and educational quality within a global context.
