A fashion show exploring the ever-changing architectures of the body. Eight projects by eight students from the IED Group’s Italian campuses come together to form a single architecture in the fashion show on 28 October.

As IED celebrates its 60th anniversary, eight students present their collections in a collective runway show exploring Plural Intelligences, the theme that has guided the Institute’s reflections and research throughout the year. The show takes place on 28 October at 2 pm at BASE Milano.

Plural Intelligences explores the idea that intelligence does not reside solely within an individual or a system, but emerges through relationships and is transformed by them. This inquiry understands intelligence as a constellation of abilities, sensibilities and ways of relating to the world, rather than a single, measurable faculty.

Fashion becomes a compelling space in which to explore this plurality through the body: an ever-changing architecture, a physical and mental space where memory, identity, desire, vulnerability and transformation coexist. Together, the eight projects form a single architecture: a collective body of diverse experiences, in which memory, imagination, emotion, perception and matter become forms of intelligence. Through its show at Fashion Graduate Italia 2026, IED presents a vision of education as a space for plurality, dialogue and continuous transformation.

Erika Angeloro - Stuffed, Genderless Collection
Stuffed reflects on memory as a fragile, fragmented process rooted in childhood recollections. The soft toy becomes a trace of the past, triggering involuntary memories that bring distant moments back to the surface. Worn materials and padded volumes give these emotional traces a tangible presence in the here and now.

Iris Balla - Dolce Segreto, Womenswear Collection
The project explores the “sweet secret”: the dark allure that has bound desire, beauty and prohibition across the centuries. A journey through myth, art, literature and Japanese visual culture, where the feminine emerges as a symbol of seduction, unease and transformation. From the archetypal figures of Lilith and the Jorōgumo to contemporary anime, the uncanny becomes a space where eros, death and artistic creation meet. An invitation to look closely at what unsettles us, recognising in the shadows some of the deepest expressions of imagination and desire.

Anna Buffetti - MNEME, Womenswear Collection
MNEME began with a desire to return. For a long time, I believed memories could be preserved through photographs, objects and places. Over time, however, I came to understand that memories are not meant to remain unchanged. They evolve, just as we do. This project began as a journey back to the landscapes of my childhood, to gestures passed down silently through generations, and to the people who shaped my understanding of home. Through inherited fabrics, family heirlooms and handcrafted details, MNEME transforms garments into emotional archives. Each piece holds fragments of a personal history, preserving not only memories but also absences, emotional ties and identities.

Emilio Mazza - L’ultimo porto
“Every morning, the man arrives at the harbour before dawn. He sits on the stone wall, his gaze fixed on the water. The ship that is supposed to take him away has been moored there for days, but he never boards. Sometimes he gets up, walks to the gangway, then stops. He stands motionless, the wind stinging his face as the sea carries the smell of salt and diesel back to him. He tells himself he will leave tomorrow. The sea frightens and draws him in at the same time, so he stays there, suspended between leaving and remaining. He stays until the sound of the sea drowns out every thought. Then he turns and takes a step forward…”

The project takes shape as a menswear collection inspired by the image of a man waiting at a harbour, a lens through which to explore human fragility. The sea becomes a narrative device, both external—a setting for adversity—and internal—a state of mind and a repository of memory. The research informs design choices including a desaturated palette, varying material weights and techniques that evoke tension and dissolution, making instability, anticipation and resilience visible. The collection proposes a passage through fragility: acknowledging it as a first step towards transformation.

Gabriele Puddu - Jointed, Womenswear Collection
Jointed begins in a room inhabited by suspended marionettes, symbols of a body subject to control. Through joints, strings and wooden structures, the collection traces the transformation of rigid armour into an organism free to move, exploring the boundaries between constraint, vulnerability and personal expression.

Arianna Semprucci - Brevemente complessi come ombre sulla terra, Womenswear Collection
The project reflects on contemporary identity, understanding the individual as a fluid presence. Shadows become a metaphor for this mutability, expressed through asymmetry, transparency and contrasts between materials—taffeta, velvet and chiffon. The body becomes a space of negotiation between presence and absence, held in a provisional balance.

Gianpaolo Senette - Su Battile, Womenswear Collection
Sardinia is a land of silence, memory and ancient myths. At the Carnival of Lula, Su Battileddu embodies an archaic sacrifice suspended between death and rebirth.
Onto his body, the community projects its guilt, fears and desire for redemption. Yet the sacrifice brings no true release. When the masks fall, a hollowed-out society emerges, as fragile as Giacometti’s figures and bent by fate like the reeds in Grazia Deledda’s writing. The ritual reveals an unsettling truth: Su Battileddu is not the monster to be sacrificed. The monster is the crowd that needs a victim to avoid confronting its own emptiness.

Federico Stella Nicosia - Vestige of Tide, Womenswear/Menswear Collection
Vestige of Tide begins with the story of a figure from the ocean depths, forced to leave its habitat and confront an unfamiliar world. In the passage from water to land, the body experiences vulnerability and transformation as it adapts to an environment to which it does not belong. Through research that interweaves matter, memory and change, the project explores the relationship between identity, survival and belonging, tracing the emergence of a new existence between the remnants of the past and the uncertainties of the future.
